In a thrilling comeback, freshman Darius Taylor returned from a leg injury to make a triumphant mark in his hometown of Detroit. With a career-high 208 rushing yards, he powered Minnesota to a 30-24 victory over Bowling Green in the Quick Lane Bowl on Tuesday.
Minnesota’s win marked their seventh consecutive bowl victory and fifth in a row under coach P.J. Fleck, showcasing the team’s resilience and determination. Taylor’s remarkable comeback, after missing the Gophers’ previous five games, was met with thunderous applause from the home crowd who came out to support him.
Despite playing with senior Cole Kramer making his first career start at quarterback, the Gophers showed great teamwork and determination. Kramer, who came through in the red zone, threw for two touchdowns and ran for another, demonstrating his leadership and composure under pressure.
On the opposing side, Bowling Green put up a valiant effort, but it was Minnesota who ultimately prevailed as they took control of the game in the second half, securing a hard-fought victory.
