Carl Weathers’ Cause of Death Revealed

Carl Weathers, famous for his role as Apollo Creed in the Rocky films, died peacefully in his sleep at 76 due to atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease. His son Matthew Weathers confirmed the death at their Venice, California home.

Carl had been battling atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease for several years before his passing. Throughout his extensive career in Hollywood, he made notable appearances in various films, including “Predator“, “Happy Gilmore“, and “The Mandalorian”, as well as lending his voice to Combat Carl in the “Toy Story” franchise. He also had notable roles on TV shows like “The Shield” and “Arrested Development“.

“Through his contributions to film, television, the arts, and sports, he has left an indelible mark and is recognized worldwide and across generations. He was a beloved brother, father, grandfather, partner, and friend.”

Weathers’ talents extended beyond acting, as he received an Emmy nomination for his work on “The Mandalorian” in 2021. Interestingly, his early career path took a different direction, playing college football and briefly professionally with the Oakland Raiders in the NFL, before transitioning to acting.

Prior to his passing, Weathers had recently completed filming a Super Bowl commercial for FanDuel alongside Rob Gronkowski, adding one more notable project to his accomplished career.

Adam Sandler was among the many celebrities who took to social media to pay their respects and offer tributes to the late Carl Weathers.
