Final moments of Andrea Mazzetto

Andrea Mazzetto, a 30-year-old Italian, tragically lost his life on Saturday, August 20, 2022, during a hiking trip with his girlfriend, Sara Bragante, in Rotzo, Italy. The incident occurred when the couple paused to capture a photograph against the backdrop of the scenic mountains near a prominent boulder known as Altar Knotto, which resembles an altar and is located close to Rotzo. After taking the photo, Mazzetto accidentally dropped his phone and made an attempt to retrieve it. Unfortunately, in the process of searching for his phone, he lost his balance and fell an estimated 650 feet from the edge of a cliff.

Authorities were promptly alerted, and both the police and rescue teams were dispatched to the scene. Despite the efforts of emergency workers who arrived via helicopter, Mazzetto was pronounced deceased at the accident site. Initially, there was confusion regarding whether Mazzetto was attempting to retrieve his girlfriend’s phone, but subsequent reports clarified that it was indeed his own phone that had fallen.
