Officers from the California Highway Patrol and local sheriff’s deputies arrived at the scene simultaneously to find an unconscious motorcyclist lying on the road surface amidst the chaos and debris resulting from the high-speed pursuit and tragic collision.
The police officers drew their firearms and instructed Wolffscott to remain inside his vehicle, but he disregarded their directives and instead approached the injured motorcyclist while brandishing a knife.
