A man from Texas has been taken into custody after the police discovered the body of a pedestrian he allegedly hit in the passenger seat of his car.

According to the White Settlement Police Department, a 31-year-old named Nestor Joel Lujan Flores fatally struck the pedestrian in Dallas on Saturday night. He then drove approximately 38 miles to a restaurant parking lot in White Settlement.

In a news release shared on Facebook on Sunday, the police stated that Flores claimed he thought he had hit an animal in Dallas and continued driving to the parking lot. The release also mentioned that Flores did not inform the police or emergency responders about the incident.

The police made a shocking discovery when they responded to a welfare check at 11:13 p.m. on Saturday. A caller reported that the driver of a Kia Forte seemed to be slumped over the steering wheel. According to the arrest affidavit, Flores entered a Jack In the Box restaurant covered in blood and asked for a phone charger. His vehicle was in the parking lot, displaying significant damage to its front end, hood, and windshield.
