Kingdom Anime’s 5th Series Unveils New Cast Members and Promo Video

The official website for the anime adaptation of Yasuhisa Hara’s Kingdom manga has released the main promotional video and introduced two additional cast members for the upcoming fifth series. Scheduled to premiere on January 6, the series features Kenta Miyake as Ba Tei/Ma Cheng and Yoshihisa Kawahara as Ryuu Tou/Liu Dong. The promotional video is accompanied by the anime’s music composers Kohta Yamamoto and Hiroyuki Sawano, providing background music. Additionally, the video offers a preview of the opening theme, “Shirubebi” (Guiding Fire), performed by DeNeel.

The newly revealed cast members include:

  • Kenta Miyake as Ba Tei/Ma Cheng
  • Yoshihisa Kawahara as Ryuu Tou/Liu Dong

The fifth series is set to debut on the NHK General channel on January 6 at 24:00 JST (effectively January 7 at 12:00 midnight JST). The ending theme, “RULERS,” will be performed by Novel Core.

This season introduces both new and returning cast members, with previously announced additions such as:

The Kingdom anime, based on Yasuhisa Hara’s historical manga, follows the journey of Xin, a slave boy with aspirations of becoming a great general for the state of Qin. The story revolves around Xin’s efforts to support Ying Zheng, the young Qin king, in his quest to unify China and rise to power within the state. The manga debuted in 2006 in Shueisha’s Weekly Young Jump magazine and has achieved record-setting success.

The anime adaptation began in 2012, with subsequent series airing in 2013, 2020, and 2022. Funimation and Crunchyroll have handled streaming for international audiences. The series faced a brief hiatus in 2020 due to COVID-19 but resumed airing in 2021, starting from the first episode.**
