In a heartbreaking event within Chicago’s South Shore neighborhood, 24-year-old Joshua Williams faces charges of first-degree murder in connection with the death of 15-year-old Amarise Parker.

The incident took place on December 12 in the 7200 block of South Phillips Avenue, where Parker’s body was discovered in a building at approximately 7:24 p.m.

According to reports, Williams and Parker were involved in a romantic relationship, and Parker had been residing with Williams for several days leading up to the tragic event.

The situation escalated when Parker informed her mother that Williams was not allowing her to leave. She managed to escape when Williams believed she was in the bathroom.

Nevertheless, Parker went back to Williams’ residence the following day, and neighbors stated that they heard arguments that evening.

The subsequent night, Williams contacted his cousin and a friend, expressing that Parker was exhibiting symptoms of foaming at the mouth, and he was unsure of how to handle the situation. In response, Williams’ cousin phoned 911, prompting paramedics to arrive at the location.

Upon their arrival, paramedics discovered Parker’s body in a closet, concealed by a blanket, with evident signs of strangulation.

Autopsy verified that her cause of death was asphyxiation and strangulation, resulting in a crushed windpipe.

Upon examining Williams’ phone, authorities discovered over 50 Google searches associated with strangulation, the victim’s name, and other evidence-related subjects.

Williams, who is also wanted in Colorado Springs for a 2019 assault case involving strangulation, was refused pretrial release and is scheduled to appear in court again on January 10th

Amarise Parker, a sophomore at CICS Loomis Longwood High School, was described by her mother as a kind-hearted individual who tragically did not deserve this unfortunate event.
