Kanye West, also known as Ye, posted an apology in Hebrew on his Instagram on December 26, 2023, for his antisemitic comments and support for Hitler. This comes after an image surfaced of his name on an Israeli missile. West’s apology states he didn’t intend to cause harm or disrespect, and he deeply regrets the pain he may have caused. He commits to learning from this experience and promoting unity.
Kanye West issued a heartfelt apology in Hebrew, the language of Judaism, using his recently reactivated Instagram account to express his deep regret for the offensive comments he made about Jewish people over the past year. In his lengthy statement, West conveyed his sorrow and committed to fostering unity and understanding moving forward.
“I genuinely apologize for any unintended harm or offense I may have caused through my words or actions, and I am deeply sorry for the hurt and disrespect that resulted. My intention was not to offend or harm, and I am committed to making amends.”
“I take responsibility for my actions and will learn from this experience to show greater empathy and understanding moving forward. Your forgiveness is crucial, and I commit to repairing harm done and fostering unity.”
His apology comes after Israeli MMA fighter Haim Gozali posted a photo on social media showing a missile with the message “Kanye West Flying to Gaza Haim Gozali” written on it in response to Kanye’s antisemitic comments.
Gozali was indeed referring to the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip. In the caption accompanying the image, Gozali wrote “@kanyewest you don’t like us Jews. So, we don’t like you too,” emphasizing that Kanye’s dislike towards the Jewish community results in mutual dislike towards him.
Kanye has made public anti-Semitic statements several times since 2002. He first took to social media and threatened “death con 3 On JEWISH PEOPLE.” In a subsequent TV interview, he explicitly wished harm upon Jewish people, accusing them of wrongdoing in their music business dealings with him.
Kanye’s controversial statements continued when he appeared on Alex Jones‘ “Infowars” show and made favorable comments about Hitler and the Nazis, saying, “I see good things about Hitler…They did good things, too…We have to stop dissing the Nazis all the time.” The sincerity of his apology remains to be seen.
