Cher Seeks Conservatorship For Son Elijah Blue Allman Amid Struggles With Addiction

Cher has taken legal action to secure a conservatorship for her son, Elijah Blue Allman, citing concerns about his ability to care for himself and manage his financial resources due to alleged drug abuse.

In the legal documents obtained by Keeps2Know, the iconic musician has requested to be the exclusive conservator of Allman’s estate, emphasizing his current challenges with drug addiction, which she claims hinder his ability to express his preferences regarding the appointment of a conservator.

Cher, 77, asserts that her 47-year-old son’s addiction has left him incapable of self-care and financial management, expressing worry that any funds provided to him would be immediately spent on drugs, jeopardizing his life.

Elijah Blue Allman, the youngest son of Cher and the late musician Gregg Allman, is reported to earn $120,000 annually, with regular distributions from a trust established by his father. Cher’s filing notes an estimated $0 value in personal property for Allman.

Reps for Cher have not responded to Keeps2Know request for comment. A court date concerning the conservatorship is scheduled for March 6, 2024.

This development comes three months after Keeps2Know reported Cher’s efforts to assist Allman by arranging for individuals to intervene, described as a “kidnapping” from a New York City hotel in 2022. Cher’s aim was to provide support for Allman’s struggles with drug addiction. The “kidnapping” occurred while Allman was attempting to reconcile with his estranged wife, Marieangela King.

Cher’s successful intervention led to Allman’s admission to a rehab clinic. Before this, he had been living with King without electricity in their Beverly Hills residence.

In a statement to People in October, Cher addressed her actions, emphasizing her role as a mother in attempting to aid her children. She denied orchestrating a kidnapping but acknowledged doing her best to guide her son through his challenges.

Cher, a mother of two, shares Elijah Blue Allman with the late Gregg Allman and is also the mother of Chaz Bono, 54, from her first marriage to the late Sonny Bono.

The legal proceedings shed light on the intricate dynamics surrounding mental health, substance abuse, and the protective measures taken by family members in navigating the challenges faced by their loved ones.
