Taylor Swift fans’ theories about their idol being the secret author of the book “Argylle” have been dashed by director Matthew Vaughn, who has confirmed that the singer is not the mysterious writer behind the upcoming movie adaptation.

The book is being adapted into a movie

In a recent interview, director Matthew Vaughn put to rest the rumor that Taylor Swift, writing under the pseudonymElly Conway“, was the author of the book “Argylle“. Instead, he confirmed that the true identity of the author remains unknown, leaving Swifties still wondering if their idol might be behind the manuscript.

Vaughn shared a funny story about his daughter assuming Taylor Swift wrote the book, saying, “My daughter, who’s more plugged into the internet than I am, came to me and said, ‘Hey, didn’t you know Taylor Swift wrote the book?‘ – it’s hilarious how rumors spread online and how celebrity culture can make us assume the most unexpected things!”

The director chuckled, recalling his daughter’s conviction: “She comes to me and says, ‘Dad, I thought Taylor Swift wrote the book!’ And I’m like, ‘Where did you get that idea?’ But she was adamant! It was funny to see how misinformation spreads. Anyway, I had to set the record straight: Elly Conway, the book’s actual author, is not Taylor Swift!”

I want to make it clear that Swift had nothing to do with writing the book,” Vaughn emphasized. “I don’t want to contribute to the crowd of people trying to attach themselves to her fame. I’ve seen how intense the speculation can get, and I was impressed by the creativity of the conspiracy theories! But let me be clear: Elly Conway is the real author, not Taylor Swift.”

The rumors about Swift’s possible involvement in the book arose from what fans thought were subtle clues, or Easter eggs, such as mentions of her Scottish Fold cats and her fondness for argyle sweaters. However, Vaughn set the record straight, explaining that these similarities were simply coincidental and not evidence of Swift’s authorship.

Vaughn rejected the idea of Swift being the author, attributing it to the fans’ vivid imagination. Despite the enthusiasts’ eagerness to connect the dots, the real identity of “Elly Conway” remains shrouded in mystery, leaving the truth behind the pseudonym unrevealed.
