Kristin Juszczyk caught the spotlight when Taylor Swift wore a custom jacket, sparking a fashion moment.
Kristin Juszczyk, a designer known for her unique puffer jackets, gained widespread attention when Taylor Swift wore one of her creations to a Chiefs’ playoff game. As a result, the NFL is now in talks with Juszczyk to license her designs for official merchandise, capitalizing on the sudden surge of fan interest.
The NFL confirmed increased fan engagement, particularly among women, but declined to release specific sales numbers for merchandise.
Taylor Swift’s custom Chiefs jacket, designed by Kristin Juszczyk, has gained significant attention. However, Juszczyk’s other creations, including a jacket for Brittany Mahomes and vests for Simone Biles and Taylor Lautner, have also garnered attention. The NFL is reportedly in talks with Juszczyk to license her designs as official merchandise.
“We’ve been familiar with Kristin’s work and have had a continuous conversation with her,” an NFL spokesperson told Sportico. “We’re still discussing potential collaborations and exploring ways to work together.“
Although Juszczyk, a self-taught designer, has gained significant online attention for her custom jackets, which have been worn by high-profile individuals like Taylor Swift, Brittany Mahomes, and Taylor Lautner, she currently doesn’t sell her designs commercially. To enter the market, she would need to meet the NFL’s strict licensing criteria, which includes having three years of manufacturing experience, a $100,000 minimum royalty guarantee, and a $6 million liability policy. Despite these challenges, Juszczyk’s designs have generated substantial buzz online, resulting in her rapidly gaining nearly 400,000 Instagram followers, surpassing the follower count of many NFL players.
The jackets gained additional exposure when they were showcased at a Lions vs. Rams playoff game, further fueling the growing interest in her designs and contributing to the mounting buzz surrounding her work.
As her reputation grew, she broadened her design portfolio to include outfits for NFL players like Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk, as well as other NFL wives and partners, including Olympic gold medalist Simone Biles, married to Green Bay Packers safety Jonathan Owens, and Brittany Mahomes, wife of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
The designer fostered a strong connection with 49ers fans by participating in events at Levi’s Stadium and collaborating with them on bespoke gameday outfits, creating a sense of community and personalized style.
