European Court Rules in Favor of Super League: Clubs Gain Freedom and New Structure Proposed

Estimated read time 1 min read

The European Court of Justice has issued a ruling stating that UEFA and FIFA violated competition laws by blocking the establishment of the European Super League in 2021.

Real Madrid and Barcelona have reaffirmed their support for the Super League. CEO Bernd Reichart of the Super League has stated that the monopoly of UEFA is now over, granting clubs the freedom to determine their own futures without the fear of sanctions.

The Super League proposes free viewing of all matches for fans and guarantees revenues and solidarity for participating clubs. The new Super League plan involves 64 teams across three tiers: Star, Gold, and Blue leagues. Participation will be based on sporting merit, with no permanent members, and there will be annual promotion and relegation between leagues. Promotion into the 3rd tier Blue League will be based on domestic league performance.
