Type Certificate Issued for China’s AS700 Civil Manned Airship

AS700 Civil Manned Airship Undergoes Testing in Hubei Province, Central China on September 16, 2022

The AS700 civil manned airship, developed by China’s AVIC Special Vehicle Research Institute, has received a type certificate from the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC). Compliant with CAAC airworthiness regulations, the AS700 has independent intellectual property rights owned by AVIC.

With a maximum take-off weight of 4,150 kg, this single-capsule airship features a single-point landing gear and offers a flight range of up to 700 km and flight duration of 10 hours.

Capable of carrying 10 people including the pilot, the AS700 supports short take-off and landing, as well as vertical take-off and landing. Its primary applications include air tours, emergency rescue operations, urban security, and beyond.

The AS700’s unique design allows it to take off and land vertically, eliminating the need for a runway, making it an ideal choice for remote or isolated areas for various missions.
